Hopefully, these quick explanations of science terms and processes are helpful and are part of the groundwork for your scientific literacy. If there are topics that you would like me to cover, please let me know in the comments. I have a Ph.D. in microbiology/biochemistry, but I am happy to do some digging into topics that I don’t deal with every day.
Previous topics in the Science Fundamentals series are: DNA, PCR, Agarose Gel Electrophoresis, and Antigens/Antibodies.
This Science Fundamental is on the differences between the COVID antigen test and the COVID PCR test. It is part of an on-going series about the difference between the COVID PCR test and the rapid antigen tests. The other Science Fundamentals are great background reading if something in this article is confusing. I won’t be going into the fundamentals of PCR here; please check out the entire article I wrote on that. Nor will I expound on the fundamentals of antigens/antibodies, as I have already written an entire article on that as well.
